Mar-30-17
The innovative LAMP box can detect mosquito-borne diseases in the field, offering prompt treatment and reducing the spread of infections.

Developed by a team at Sandia National Laboratories, the test is meant to work in conjunction with a smartphone. It is made up of off-the-shelf components, and features a 3D-printed body and light filters. A companion app will control the smartphone’s camera as well as analyze the sample, and the inexpensive device can detect viral RNA in body fluids in about thirty minutes.
