Less-Stressful Fetal Heartbeat Monitor

Less-Stressful Fetal Heartbeat Monitor
Oct-23-18
A new fetal heartbeat monitor could allow expectant mothers to check their baby’s heartbeat without the need to visit a clinic.

In development by a team from Sussex University, the monitor was developed to help women during high-risk pregnancies (such those affected by diabetes or preeclampsia) track their fetus’s heartbeat without needing to undertake a potentially stressful hospital visit. Still in the prototype phase, the device relies on Electric Potential Sensing (EPS) technology to isolate the baby’s heartbeat and detect possible cardiac diseases.
