Lung-Like Device Creates Hydrogen Fuel

Lung-Like Device Creates Hydrogen Fuel
Dec-23-18
An innovative device inspired by the workings of the lung could offer an efficient way to create hydrogen fuel.

Developed by a team from Stanford University, the lung-like pouch is made up of a plastic film only twelve nanometers thick. Tiny, water-repelling pores are on one side of the film, while the other side is lined with gold and platinum nanoparticles. When the pouch was placed in water and a voltage applied, the system was able to convert energy 32 percent more efficiently than the same membrane when laid flat.
