The Maker Knife utility knife from Giacomo Di Muro features an easily sliding blade for everyday carry.
Developed with the needs of makers in mind, the Maker Knife is an improvement over typical retractable utility knives and their stiff, hard-to-expose blades. Instead, the blade of the Maker Knife can be quickly exposed for use by flicking it open with a finger, where the blade locks securely in place. The blade can be retracted in the same way—by placing a finger in the ring and slipping the blade back inside the body of the knife.
Although the team won’t discuss their patent-pending technology, they did state that the mechanism design is made from a “single piece of stainless steel using electrically discharged machining.”
