Material Generates Energy Three Ways

Material Generates Energy Three Ways
Feb-12-17
Researchers have identified a new material able to convert sunlight, heat and motion into electricity simultaneously.

The material, called KBNNO, is ferroelectric, containing tiny electric dipoles that will misalign when exposed to a change in temperature and induce an electric current. Stressing the material physically will also cause the material to produce an electric current, as will exposing it to light.

According to the University of Oulu team, who carried out the study, this is the first time the effects of temperature, pressure and light on KBNNO have been studied simultaneously at room temperature.
