Mattress Sensor Reads and Transmits Patient Vitals

Mattress Sensor Reads and Transmits Patient Vitals
Oct-22-12
A newly cleared mattress-based patient monitoring system has recently received FDA clearance, and may help take the burden off medical staff.

The system, from the Isreal-based EarlySense, can monitor heart rate, respiration rate and patient movement through contact-free sensors placed under the mattress. The data is converted by the device’s Embedded Algorithmic Engine to translate the patient’s large body movements and respiratory motion pattern into more precise vital sign information, which is displayed on the bedside, nurse’s station and other necessary locations.
