MedEye Prevents Medication Errors

MedEye Prevents Medication Errors
Oct-28-13
To help prevent medication administration errors, the MedEye system identifies pills using computer vision to double-check the types and amounts.

Developed by Mint Solutions, the MedEye system is able to identify all the medication at once without relying on expensive barcode systems or fallible humans. The medication about to be administered is placed in the device’s tray and scanned by a camera. The system then identifies the medication through computer vision, verifying the appropriate dosage and types and registering that the medication has been administered. The system can be used at the patient’s bedside, dramatically reducing the risk of medication errors, and requires very little training for use.
