Medici Implantable Drug Delivery Pump

Medici Implantable Drug Delivery Pump
Jun-11-16
The Medici tiny implantable pump can be placed beneath the skin to deliver a continuous flow of medication.

Created by Intarcia Therapeutics, Inc, the matchstick-sized pump includes the drug delivery system as well as a way to stabilize the cargo at human body temperature. Once in place, extracellular fluid will diffuse through a semi-permeable membrane into an osmotic pump to drive the medicine smoothly and consistently out of the other end. The rate of drug release can be specified for different applications.
