Microfluidic Device Detects Lyme Disease in Minutes

Microfluidic Device Detects Lyme Disease in Minutes
Oct-15-19
A microfluidic device able to deliver a diagnosis of Lyme disease within minutes could offer a simpler point-of-care test for the disease.

Typically, testing for the early signs of Lyme disease is difficult, requiring separate tests by trained specialists. In contrast, the device developed by the team from Columbia University can be carried out in the clinician's office in 15 minutes. The test can detect the three biomarkers of the disease even in the early stages, enabling the patient to seek treatment as soon as possible.
