MIT Battery Captures CO2

MIT Battery Captures CO2
Oct-27-19
A new method of removing carbon dioxide from the air can function at almost any concentration level, from power plants to open air.

In contrast to conventional methods, which are expensive and require higher concentrations to operate, the process from the team at MIT can remove CO2 affordably at lower levels. The system relies on a specialized battery that will absorb the carbon dioxide from a gas stream as it passes over the battery’s electrodes during charging. The captured gas can then be released by discharging the battery and harvested for use in carbonated drinks or plant food manufacturing.
