MIT G3DP2 Prints Glass on the Industrial Scale

MIT G3DP2 Prints Glass on the Industrial Scale
Dec-31-18
The innovative G3DP2 system from MIT allows for 3D-printing of transparent glass on industrial levels.

The G3DP2 system is an evolution of the team’s earlier G3DP device, which was able to 3D-print intricate glass structures. To bring the system up to the industrial scale and offer more control over the final product, the team created the G3DP2 platform, which relies on a heated box that contains the melted glass and a second, thermally-controlled printing box. The system is able to create clear glass structures up to three meters tall, which could be used in architecture or decorating.
