Modular Blocks Reduce Low Frequency Sounds

Modular Blocks Reduce Low Frequency Sounds
Jun-04-19
An innovative noise reduction block able to reduce low-frequency sounds would provide some sound relief in urban areas.

Not only is low-frequency sound—such as that from machinery and aircraft—more difficult to block, it can also cause negative physiological reactions. To help create a healthier sound environment, researchers from NUS created a unique, 3D-printed block design that can be customized by adjusting the neck opening and air cavity to cancel a chosen frequency, including low ones. The blocks can be installed in existing walls, and the modular design is both lightweight and affordable to produce.

Are noise-maps done indoors like thermal-maps? Self-acting drones might chart decibels, frequencies, wobble and other sounds.
