Developed as an alternative to surgery for treating people with brain damage, the Mollii garment elastic body suit uses electrical stimulation to ease pain and increase mobility.
Brain injuries and neurological disorders such as MS and cerebral palsy can cause tension and spasms, which are both painful and can reduce mobility. Based on the idea of transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS), the Mollii garment is equipped with low-voltage electrodes that send electrical stimulation to the affected areas, disrupting the pain signals.
The Mollii is made from standard swimsuit material, and its 58 electrodes can stimulate as many as 42 distinct muscles.
