Mondi Group Plastic Made from Worst Waste

Mondi Group Plastic Made from Worst Waste
Jul-12-19
A new flexible plastic from the Mondi Group incorporates at least 20 percent recycled, post-consumer plastic of the worst kind.

Developed as part of Project Proof, the flexible plastic pouch create by the Mondi Group is made up of post-consumer waste considered to be “the worst-case of cleaned and unprocessed material possible.” The material was washed and sorted using a number of technologies, resulting in a polymer that was then formed into a usable, stand-up pouch prototype.

According to Graeme Smith, Mondi consumer packaging’s sustainability manager, “We wanted to see what was possible with the worst input, and we were able to create a fully usable prototype.”
