Multi-Touch Skin Places a Touchscreen on the Body

Multi-Touch Skin Places a Touchscreen on the Body
May-05-18
The Multi-Touch Skin technology could allow people to turn their bodies into touchscreens.

Developed by the team from Saarland University, who also created the iSkin stickers, the Multi-Touch Skin is made up of a thin piece of PET plastic that has been inkjet-printed with two layers of electrodes arranged to form a ‘coordinate system.’ The Skin is attached to a battery-powered Raspberry Pi Zero, which detects when the user touches the skin and translates the type of touch into a command. In demonstrations, the system was used to control paired devices such as a lamp, music player or a smartphone.

Could a touchscreen be sprayed on keyboards and keypads? So far the most or latest used buttons can be named afterwards with UV light, but new technologies might tell also their sequence.
