Multilegged Robot Carries Heavy Loads

Multilegged Robot Carries Heavy Loads
Sep-27-18
A tiny-multilegged robot able to travel slippery and fluid-lined surfaces could help to deliver drugs within the body.

Developed by a team from Hong Kong’s City University, the tiny robot is made from soft silicon embedded with magnetic particles, and features hundreds of tapering legs that account for more than half of the robot’s height. The bot can be triggered by an external force to propel its body forward, while its leg arrangement allows it to carry heavy loads while also reducing friction to move easily through fluid-filled areas of the body.
