NanoMap System Adds Uncertainty to Help Drones Navigate

NanoMap System Adds Uncertainty to Help Drones Navigate
Feb-17-18
The NanoMap system from MIT helps drones navigate crowded environments by compensating for uncertain conditions.

Instead of complex and intricate maps of an area—particularly one that could change at any moment—the NanoMap system from MIT’s CSAIL accounts for the uncertainty of the drone’s position at any given time. The new approach relies on a depth-sensing system that allows the drone to anticipate future motion, and make plans to react accordingly.
