Nanotextured Glass Reduces Glare

Nanotextured Glass Reduces Glare
Oct-31-17
An innovative new nanotextured glass could open the door to glare-free screens.

The technology is from a team at the US Department of Energy, who treated regular glass by etching the surface to create a "forest of nanoscale cone-shaped structures with sharp tips." This etching causes the light’s refractive index to change more gradually from air to glass, helping to reduce reflections.

The “invisible glass” could have applications in consumer electronics as well as improving solar cell efficiency and antireflective coatings.
