An innovative Nanowood material offers an eco-friendly, extremely efficient insulating option.
Developed by the University of Maryland, the material is created by removing the lignin from the wood, as well as some of the short fibers that help form the structure that gives wood its mechanical strength. The result was a sheet of cellulose fibers that provide excellent insulation, able to block up to ten degrees more heat than Styrofoam while also being much more environmentally friendly.
