NarcoScan Detects Drugs in the Field

NarcoScan Detects Drugs in the Field
Nov-01-17
The pocket-sized NarcoScan device from Spectral Engines can detect narcotics in the field in seconds.

Developed for police patrols, the NarcoScan weighs only a few hundred grams, much smaller than any other available device. The device relies on infrared spectroscopy to identify compounds in the field, with the raw data sent to the cloud be to analyzed by proprietary algorithms. The results are transmitted to the smartphone for review in just a few seconds.

According to the developers, the system can detect very low concentrations of drugs, and new algorithms can be created to allow the NarcoScan to detect newly designed drugs as well.
