An extremely adhesive hydrogel able to attach to soft tissue could have applications in cartilage repair.
Developed by the team from EPFL, the biocompatible hydrogel is made up of 90% water and offers ten times the adhesive ability of current options. The gel is very similar to the body’s own tissue, due to the high water content, while its unique double-network matrix and a fiber network allow it absorb mechanical stresses and stay in place for a long time.
