New Technology Preserves Beer Better

New Technology Preserves Beer Better
Jun-17-19
A new electromagnetic induction technology could improve the taste and extend the shelf life of beer and other beverages.

Typically, food products like beer and juice are steam pasteurized for preservation, but that process can affect taste and is resource heavy. As a better alternative, the team from the Purdue University startup Induction Food Systems is developing a new technology that relies on electromagnetic induction. An induction element embedded in a section of the pipe is heated by radio waves generated by an external coil connected to an electronics pack, heating beer and other liquids as they flow through the pipe.

The process is much more efficient and controllable that current technologies, offering 600 percent more temperature control and up to five times the energy efficiency.
