New Virus Test Much Faster

Mar-19-20 Scientists from the University of Oxford have developed a test for COVID-19 that is much faster than the current test which takes up to 2 hours to reveal results.

The test is also highly accurate with built-in checks to prevent false positives or negatives.

Using this new technology people in the early stages of infection could be identified much sooner, helping to reduce the spread of the virus.

It uses a simple color change to identify whether or not the virus is present. Each test uses three vials, each with a different primer. A positive test turns two vials yellow, leaving one pink.
