Volvo has debuted a system able to sense both pedestrians and cyclists in its path, automatically braking if they get too close.
While Volvo cars have featured a system that brakes for pedestrians, the cyclist addition is new. The new system features a grill-mounted radar and a high-definition camera embedded in the rear-view mirror. If a cyclist headed in the same direction as the vehicle suddenly swerves in front of it, the system will apply full brake power.
According to reports, half of all cyclist deaths in European traffic have been the result of a collision with a car.
