Nutrima Analyzes Food Quality

Nutrima Analyzes Food Quality
Jun-25-13
By making it easy calculate the nutrition level of food, the Nutrima concept could encourage consumers to pay more attention to what they are eating.

The concept device, created by Janne Palovuori, is a finalist in the Electrolux Design Lab competition. When an item of food is placed atop the device, the built-in sensors will measure the freshness level, amount of certain toxins and nutritional qualities such as fat content, protein and carbohydrates. A social app allows users to share the information with others, giving them a chance to support the best sources for fresh and nutritional food or warn of dodgy places.

The Nutrima also features piezoelectric materials that allow it to be charged by bending the body, eliminating the need for a power outlet.
