Ocean Space Habitat Offers Undersea Shelter

Feb-04-19 The Ocean Space Habitat gives divers a place to take a breather and stay underwater longer than was possible before.

A bit like an underwater tent, the Ocean Space Habitat was patented by Winslow Burleson and Michael Lombardi to boost diver safety and ocean exploration. The portable tent can be anchored in place underwater as needed, where its array of battery-powered fans continuously remove the carbon dioxide from the air. This gives scuba divers a comfortable place to rest and allow their bodies to adjust to the decreasing pressure, because they can remove their masks in the tent and breathe normally.

The team is also working to develop larger and more specialized tents, which could be used as research stations or hold scientific instruments.
