Odoreader Sniffs out Bladder Cancer

Odoreader Sniffs out Bladder Cancer
Jul-17-13
By analyzing the odors in urine, the Odoreader is able to detect the early signs of bladder cancer with a 100 percent success rate.

Though dogs can be trained to sniff out the biomarkers of disease, they are not always practical for use in hospitals. Inspired by the abilities of these dogs, the Odoreader is equipped with a sensor system that detects the chemicals in the gas emitted by urine. By analyzing the gas and its chemicals, the Odoreader system then creates a profile of the urine that indicates whether or not cancer cells are present. The procedure takes about 30 minutes to complete.
