Optic Fiber Chip Sensor Measures Glucose in Sweat

Optic Fiber Chip Sensor Measures Glucose in Sweat
May-02-16
Researchers have created an extremely sensitive glucometer equipped with fiber optic biosensors that is able to measure the glucose in sweat.

The device was developed by integrating the fiber optic glucose sensors into a microfluidic chip, which resulted in a sensor able to measure glucose by detecting glucose oxidase concentrations in solution. In this case, the device is able to detect glucose in sweat, allowing for more consistent monitoring and an earlier diagnosis, and extremely accurate results.
