Ostom-i Alert Pairs with Smartphones to Prevent Overflow

Nov-29-13 The Ostom-i Alert was developed to discreetly alert patients when their ostomy/stoma bags are full, reducing the chances of accidents and embarrassment.

The Ostim-i device can clip onto any ostomy bag, where it will work via Bluetooth and a companion app to send an alert to a mobile device when the bag’s contents reach a certain level. Alerts can be set to change depending on the position of the person’s body (when a person is lying down, the bag may not read a full as it actually is), and the system will also keep track of the output volume over time.

The single-use device can be used for up to three months.
