The Smarterware container system is made up of a container, clip and strap each embedded with an electronic tag. After the food has been placed in a container or tagged by the clip or strap, the tags and corresponding food are entered into the Smarterware app. The app will track how long the foods have been in the fridge, alerting the user and even recommending recipes to use up the food. The tags also offer a visual reminder of food freshness, with a ring around the edge changing from green to yellow, and finally red.
