Peptide Toothpaste Repairs Cavities

Peptide Toothpaste Repairs Cavities
Apr-17-18
A peptide toothpaste able to prevent cavities goes beyond brushing to ensure better oral hygiene.

Created by a team from the University of Washington, the toothpaste features peptides made from the natural protein amelogenin, which is key to forming the tooth’s hard crown enamel. As the peptides bind to the surface of the tooth, they will biomineralize by recruiting calcium and phosphate ions, helping to repair and strengthen the tooth by building new enamel.
