PlenOptika QuickSee Makes Eyeglass Affordable

While the price of eyeglasses has come down, the price of autorefractors has not—which contributes to the still high cost of obtaining a prescription. As an alternative to the bulky, expensive devices, the MIT spin-off company PentOptika created the QuickSee, an affordable and portable autorefractor that does not require a computer or internet connection. The lightweight device can be held by the patient during the exam, and delivers accurate results in just seconds and at a third the cost of traditional autorefractors.
