The PopSLATE iPhone case adds a second display to the back of the iPhone, giving users an ‘always on’ display for notes, maps or to-do lists.
Currently seeking funding on Indiegogo, the PopSLATE case uses e-ink technology, and so requires very little power to operate. The user can send any image to the display, including photographs or images grabbed from the web, and the display will stay on, eliminating the need to continually touch the screen of the phone to active the display. This makes it easier to follow a map or directions, while also adding a new way to personalize the case.
The development team is currently looking into ways for app developers to access the screen, particularly a reading app that could display text in both bright light and dark.
