Portable Blood Test Warns of Heart Attacks

Portable Blood Test Warns of Heart Attacks
Feb-25-18
A portable biosensor able to detect a potential heart attack via a blood sample could help save lives.

The tiny sensor, currently in the prototype phase, analyzes a finger prick drop of blood to detect elevated levels of C-reactive protein in the blood, which can be an indication of a heart attack, stroke or coronary disease. The team envisions the sensor communicating with a smartphone via WiFi or Bluetooth, where daily checks could be used to gather data analyzed by an app to help the user or their doctor monitor their condition and provide an early warning system.
