Printing Biomaterials on Body Parts

Printing Biomaterials on Body Parts
Sep-29-17
A new 3D-printing technique can print biomaterials directly onto a moving body part.

Developed by a team from the University of Minnesota, the system overcomes the previous obstacle of how to attach biomaterials to the skin. Whereas typically these materials have needed to be printed onto a film or other surface, and then transferred to the skin, the printing system is able to track the movement of the body part in real time, depositing the specialized hydrogels directly onto the skin.
