Project Goa Brings VR to all Smartphones

Project Goa Brings VR to all Smartphones
May-31-16
The Project Goa invention wants to make virtual reality possible with any smartphone.

In development by the startup Nod, the system is aimed at bringing virtual reality to more applications beyond gaming, such as real estate and medicine. The self-contained system works without mounted cameras, instead relying on a central base with a tracking camera and onboard processor. A pair of detachable wireless controllers would offer hand and movement tracking, and the smartphone would fit into a slot on the visor of the person’s choosing.

According to the developers, “Goa is meant to bring the virtual reality experience to anyone who has a smartphone,” says Nod’s CEO Anush Elangovan. “You can leave the station on a coffee table and a family could sit around it.”
