The Rain Shield takes the humble umbrella to a new level—and leaves out all the pointed bits.
Created by designers Lin Min-Wei and Liu Li-Hsiang, the Rain Shield consists of a single steel wire and a telescopic rod. The shield-like shape created by the curved wire prevents it from blowing inside out in the wind, and the umbrella compresses easily into a disc that can be stored in a bag.
The Rain Shield concept was created for the Red Dot design awards.
