The ReMix in-body GPS system could have applications in
targeted drug delivery and tumor tracking.
Developed by a team from MIT, the ReMix system tracks the location
of ingestible implants via low-power radio signals that bounce off the patient.
The waves can be used to detect implants within the tissue with a 1.5-centimeter accuracy—though the team hopes to fine-tune that accuracy.
The location trackers could help with targeted drug release or be used to track the changing size of a tumor.
