RExLite Electric Plane Goes Further with a Detachable Motorcycle

RExLite Electric Plane Goes Further with a Detachable Motorcycle
Oct-01-17
The innovative new RExLite electric aircraft design gets a power boost from a detachable electric motorcycle.

Designed by Richard Glasscock of Nottingham University, the RExLite electric aircraft features an onboard 40kW electrical generator, which Glasscock states gives the plane a range comparable to conventional combustion engines. Attached beneath the RExLite rides the RExMoto, a separate module that can be fitted to the craft to provide an additional two to three hours of range. As an added bonus, the RExMoto can detach from the craft to function as a motorcycle, transporting the passengers onward from the airport.

Why not have the motorcycle be combustion-engine powered, and be the optional range extender. The motorcycle would run as a generator in flight, and propel the motorbike on the ground. Admittedly, 40kW is high power for a bike, but not impossible.
