RFly Drone-Based Inventory System

RFly Drone-Based Inventory System
Aug-28-17
The RFly system from MIT could one day allow drones to monitor inventory using RFID tags.

According to the researchers, the primary obstacle in developing the team of flying drones was ensuring they would be safe to operate around humans. Since drones large enough to carry RFID readers with a usable range would also be too large to trust around humans, the researchers designed the drones to relay the signals as they are emitted from a standard RFID reader. Because the drones are constantly moving, each one is equipped with its own RFID tag, which allows the system to track the drone’s location and compensate for any discrepancies in signal accuracy.
