The Tethered Pelvic Assist Device helps improve the gait of Parkinson’s disease patients to reduce the risk of falls.
Developed by a team from Columbia University, the Tethered Pelvic Assist Device (TPAD) is worn by the patient as they walk on a treadmill. During the exercise, the cable-driven robot applies forces to the patient’s pelvis at random times, helping train them to adapt to unexpected perturbations and reduce their risk of falling.
