Rognan Robotic Furniture Shifts for Small Spaces

Rognan Robotic Furniture Shifts for Small Spaces
Jun-04-19
IKEA’s versatile Rognan robotic furniture can transform to make the most out of small space living.

As smaller homes grow in popularity—and necessity—their smaller spaces offer some unique design challenges. IKEA has embraced that opportunity by teaming with MIT startup Ori to create the Rognan shape-shifting bedroom/living room platform, which is controlled via a simple touchpad. Different modules on the Rognan unit can be opened or expanded to create a workstation, soft, bed or storage access, and the entire module can slide across the floor to make room on either side. This flexible design allows a single room to be used for several different activities throughout the day, saving resources and money.
