Samsung Patents Smartwatch Fingerprint Scanner

Dec-26-18 Samsung has filed a patent for what could be the first in-screen fingerprint scanner unlock for a smartwatch.

As smartwatches become more sophisticated, including in their ability to be used as a method of payment, they also need to be more secure. To that end, the team from Samsung has filed a patent for an in-display fingerprint scanner that could be incorporated into their next generation of watches. In addition to smartwatch security, the fingerprint scanner could also find its way into Samsung’s next lineup of Galaxy smartphones.
