Scal-Pal Makes Changing Scalpel Blades Safer

Mar-31-18 The Scal-Pal invention makes changing scalpel blades safer and simpler.

Developed by a team at Georgia Tech, the Scal-Pal operates much like switching out standard razor blades. The scalpel blade is stored inside a single-use box, which allows the user to simply insert the scalpel handle into the box to attach the blade. The used blade can be removed much in the same way, by inserting the scalpel into the box to release the blade from the handle, where it is contained within the Scal-Pal box for safe disposal.
