ScanReach In:Mesh Brings IoT to Ships

ScanReach In:Mesh Brings IoT to Ships
Mar-30-19
The In:Mesh IoT system from ScanReach will make it easier to quickly locate crew members onboard large ships during an emergency.

Conventional cabled Wi-Fi networks do not work well inside steel containers, such as ships, and can be difficult to install on existing vessels. To overcome these obstacles, the maritime IoT company ScanReach developed a wireless mesh network made up of ‘nodes’ that can easily be retrofitted onto a ship. The nodes communicate wirelessly to each other, transmitting data throughout the vessel and to a central computer, allowing onboard crew wearing the In:Range tags to be quickly located in an emergency.

The En:Mesh system can also work with a variety of sensors in the In:Sense system to track parameters such as temperature, light levels, vibration and humidity—creating a smart ship that can be monitored from the central location.
