Scorpion Milking Robot

Scorpion Milking Robot
Jul-04-17
The VES-4 scorpion-milking robot could make it much easier to collect the precious fluid.

Scorpion venom, though quite deadly, is also known for its medicinal potential—including cancer treatment. But gathering the venom is dangerous and requires two handlers.

To offer a better solution, the team from Ben M’sik Hassan II University created the VES-4 robot. The robot holds the scorpion’s tail while stimulating it with electricity, causing the scorpion to release its venom in response. The robot is designed to treat the scorpion carefully, without harming the creature, and can be controlled remotely by a single researcher.
