Self-Excavation Hurricane House

Self-Excavation Hurricane House
Jan-04-18
The Self-Excavation Hurricane House would drill into the ground for extra security during hurricanes.

Designed by experimental architect Margot Krasojević, the conceptual house features a sail-like design and hydraulic pivots that ‘screw’ the house into the ground for extra security during high winds. An artificial island surrounding the house would protect it from floodwaters, while the main living area would be made of a reinforced concrete frame and a series of rubber-coated, concertina wall sections that flex without damage while the home rotates.
