Self-Healing Electronic Skin

Self-Healing Electronic Skin
Feb-12-18
A self-healing electronic skin could lead to a new generation of smart textiles or electronics.

Developed by a team from the University of Colorado, the self-healing skin is made up of three easily accessible compounds mixed together and then combined with silver nanoparticles. Chemical bonds created by the skin will pull it back together if it is cut or torn, and the material can be dissolved in a special solution and recycled to create a new e-skin.

The team believes the material could have applications in environmentally friendly electronics.
