Self-Healing Hydrophobic Coating

Self-Healing Hydrophobic Coating
Apr-06-17
Researchers have developed a hydrophobic coating able to self-heal multiple times.

The coating, from a team at the University of Michigan, is made up of a material known as "fluorinated polyurethane elastomer" and the specialized water-repellent molecule "F-POSS." This unique combination results in a slightly rubbery material able to adhere to a wide variety of surfaces, as well as heal itself both physically and chemically.

The new technology will be commercialized by HygraTek.
