Self-Healing Touchscreen

Self-Healing Touchscreen
Apr-07-17
Researchers have developed a self-healing material that could allow smartphone screens to repair small cuts and scratches.

The new polymer, from a team at UC Riverside, is held together by an arrangement of covalent bonds that allow the material to pull itself back together if it breaks. As an added bonus, the material can also conduct electricity, which makes it ideal for use in touchscreens.

The team now hopes to improve the material’s functioning in high humidity, and prepare the technology for real-world applications.
